Batteries for new Hybrid Vehicles

Batteries, Help, Information, News, Questions, Reviews

Anyone that’s been to the gas pump recently knows the cost of gas is just insane. Seeing as the national price per gallon of regular gas is over $3.08 and $3.37 for premium, it is hitting us all in the pocketbook. There are several companies working on better batteries for the gas-electric hybrids that are becoming a lot more popular. With better batteries increased mileage is possible. The 2 most common that I’ve been reading about are better lithium Ion and hydrogen cell batteries. The new Prototype from Chevrolet is called the Volt. The Volt can drive 40 miles without using a drop of gasoline and if you go over that, there is a gasoline system which recharges the batteries while you’re driving. They estimate that if your average drive is around 60 miles a day you’ll get approximately 150 mpg! Sure sounds good to me!
