What is the difference between Cranking Amps?? and Cold Cranking Amps??
I know this can be a bit confusing as the abbreviations to these are CA and CCA, respectively. Now the cranking amps (CA) are frequently called marine cranking amps (MCA) to add a little to the confusion. What the difference boils down to:
-Cold Cranking Amps are how many amps the battery can maintain for 30 seconds at 0°F (-18°C) before dropping to 1.2 volts per cell.
-Cranking Amps or Marine Cranking Amps are how many amps the battery can maintain for 30 seconds at the freezing point of water 32°F (0°C) before dropping to 1.2 volts per cell.
Hopefully this will help ease a bit of confusion; I know it confused me at first.
