Large Scale Solar Battery Powers Household
There is a group of companies namely Sharp Corporation, Daiwa House Industry Co., and Dai Nippon Printing Co. that have decided to join forces. They’ve decided to join forces in order to design and build a large scale storage battery for household systems. Your average home will use around 12kwh in power a day. Their goal is to create a lithium battery that will hold and store 18kwh per day giving a little buffer room if needed. Now the questions are: can they make a battery with this kind of capacity reasonably priced and safe? There are various “super-batteries” that are being developed around the globe, my question is when and how much will they cost to make these practical in use. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to invest in a solar system then turn around and need 30-40k to add a battery that will make it so you can take advantage of it at night. We are too used to our creature comforts and I don’t see us making too many sacrifices to our power consumption. I know I go through withdrawals if I can’t use my computer daily. What kind of battery backup would you need to keep your comfort level? Have you checked to see how much power you are drawing daily?
