With Milwakee, DeWalt, Bosch, Mikika and others changing from NiCad to Lithium-Ion batteries you will notice increased performance. The batteries tend to be lighter and smaller and also last approximately twice as long. Lithium-Ion batteries don’t have the “fade-away” that NiCads are so loved for. The last cut is as strong as the first. They [...]

Anyone that’s been to the gas pump recently knows the cost of gas is just insane. Seeing as the national price per gallon of regular gas is over $3.08 and $3.37 for premium, it is hitting us all in the pocketbook. There are several companies working on better batteries for the gas-electric hybrids that are [...]

If you are recharging Gel Cell batteries the battery manufacturer’s charging voltage is critical if you don’t want to ruin your battery. In most cases, standard deep-cycle chargers can not be used as the higher charging voltages and algorithms are different. This can cause damage to your battery greatly decreasing the life of the battery.

As a rule of thumb, most motorcycle manufacturers recommend a routine battery inspection and service for every 2500-mile intervals. Most battery manufacturers recommend taking a look at least once a month, whether the battery is being used or not.
If it’s been a while since you have enjoyed your bike, you might want to consider checking [...]

I just learned something interesting. The new iPhone from Apple on the AT&T network seems to be an amazing device. However when the battery dies, and we all know it will usually in a year or so, you can’t replace the darn thing! You have to send it back to Apple where they replace the [...]

• Fast and simple charge, even after prolonged storage.
• High number of charge/discharge cycles - if properly maintained, nickel-cadmium provides over 1000 charge/discharge cycles.
• Good load performance - nickel-cadmium allows recharging at low temperatures.
• Long shelf life - five-year storage is possible. Some priming prior to use will be required.
• Simple storage and transportation - most airfreight companies accept nickel-cadmium [...]

I’ve been getting the batteries through BatteryWeb.com for awhile now and have never had [...]

Often times you’ll hear about Deep Cycle batteries. Car batteries are mainly there for starting the car. This takes a surprisingly high current, up to 400 amps for a big engine on a cold day. The way they accomplish this is by having a lot of very thin plates so there is a lot of [...]

Here is how you can make a simple wet-cell storage battery with only two lead plates. Submerge them in an electrolyte solution (64% water and 36% sulfuric acid by weight is standard), apply direct current and watch as the positive lead plate develops a brown coating of lead peroxide and the negative plate becomes sponge [...]

Ever wonder what that AH is for on your battery? What does it mean? Figure that a 12AH battery can produce one amp of current flow for 12 hours, or two amps for six hours, or 12 amps for one hour, etc. To figure out how long you’d have to leave your lights on to [...]
